Kupperstein Brings Home Bronze in First Ever Eleiko World Cup

Stockholm, Sweden, June 12, 2012- Eric Kupperstein (Cohasset, Mass.) placed third overall and second in the deadlift in the 59Kgs/130Lbs weight class at the inaugural International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Eleiko World Cup.

Kupperstein is no stranger to open IPF championships but with this being the first ever raw world championship no one could have predicted how the outcome would unfold. He had a rough start to the competition missing his first two squat attempts but after a few adjustments came back to get his third squat of 187.5Kgs/413.4Lbs. He then went on to get two out of three attempts in both the bench press and deadlift, 100Kgs/220.5Lbs and 252.5Kgs/556.7Lbs respectfully. After his second pull Kupperstein briefly held the raw world record in the deadlift until Sergey Fedosienko of Russia took claim. Ultimately Kupperstein finished the day with a 540Kgs/1190.5Lbs total which was only 7.5Kgs from the silver medal position.

He earned the chance to represent Team USA with his victory last August in the USAPL Raw Nationals that were held in Scranton, PA. Kupperstein is a fierce competitor and look for him to bounce back to lift at the 2012 USAPL Raw Nationals in Killeen, TX and earn the spot on the 2012 Team USA for the second Annual Eleiko World Cup which will be held in Moscow, Russia.
