Checking Your Supplements & Medications

Did you know tainted supplements and doctor-prescribed medications can cause a drug test failure? Well, continue reading to learn more!⁣

1. 𝐁𝐄𝗪𝐀𝐑𝐄: Supplements are minimally regulated in the US and some are tainted with ingredients that aren’t listed on the bottle.⁣

2. In addition, some medications require a 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (TUE) prior to competing.⁣

3. Just because your doctor prescribed it you 𝐃𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 mean it’s allowed and you’re in the clear!⁣

4. Use 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐑𝐎 to check your medications against the WADA list and see if they’re prohibited in or out of competition. www.globaldro.com⁣

5. In addition, check supplement labels prior to purchase to see if they’ve been 3rd party tested and proved to be banned substance-free. USADA recommends 𝐍𝐒𝐅 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭.⁣

6. You also have the option to ask your coach for help. That’s what your coach is for and they can research the supplement or medication as well.⁣

7. You also have the option to ask key personnel in USAPL for help. Contact your 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡, or the 𝐓𝐔𝐄 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧.⁣
