Blyn Takes Home the Bronze at IPF World Championships

Pilsen, Czech Republic, Nov. 11, 2011 – Liane Blyn (Milford, Mass.) finished in third place overall in the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) 32nd Women’s World Championships. In route to her bronze medal performance in the women’s 84Kgs/ 185.2Lbs weight class; she also picked up silver in the Bench Press and another bronze in the Deadlift.

Blyn who is no stranger to the IPF World Championships earned her chance to compete with her victory at USAPL Women’s National Championships earlier this year in May. Blyn posted a 3 for 3 performance in the squat ultimately hitting 235Kgs/518.1Lbs. Her 162.5Kgs/258.2Lbs Bench Press was second highest in her class, and then completed another 3 for 3 performance in the Deadlift topping out with 220Kgs/485Lbs good for third in her class. With all the lifts combined Blyn totaled 617.5Kgs/1361.3Lbs good enough for a third place finish and the bronze medal.

“She nailed a 518Lbs personal record Squat, tied a personal record on the bench and grabbed a silver medal in the Bench Press and finished the day with a bronze medal Deadlift,” said Matthew Gary, Head Coach of the United States women’s team. “ Her 1,361Lbs total was a 38Lbs personal record, Amazing!”

Blyn is the Co-Owner and Director of Athletic Based Training located in Holliston and Milford. She also has an extensive background as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in the collegiate level having worked at school such as Boston College and Arizona State. Blyn was also represented the United States in the 2003 Worlds Strongest Women Competition.
